Aluminium 2014A T651 Sheet & Plate

A robust alloy containing 4 to 5% copper is available in extruded bar and profile forms, fully heat-treated (solution heat-treated and artificially aged). It is typically stocked in the T651 condition, which means it has been stress-relieved by controlled stretching, except for sizes under 10mm in diameter and over 203.2mm in diameter, which are only available in T6 condition. Sizes over 203.2mm in diameter are produced based solely on their chemical composition.

The Aluminium 2014A alloy is known for its excellent machinability. It is commonly used in high-strength components, particularly within the aerospace and defence sectors.

Temper Types

This above data relates to temper T651. The most common temper for aluminium alloy 2014A are:

  • T6 - Solution heat-treated and artificially aged
  • T3 - Solution heat treated, cold worked and naturally aged
  • T6511 - Solution heat treated and stress-relieved by stretching then artificially aged with minor straightening after aging
  • T651 - Solution heat treated, stress relieved by stretching then artificially aged

These temper designations indicate the specific heat treatment and mechanical working processes the alloy has undergone to achieve certain mechanical properties.
